The countertop and undersink water filters have an Intelligent Monitor to let you know when it is time to replace the filters, no more guess work.

Combining the power of solid carbon block filtration with a unique, proprietary blend of additional filter medias, This unique formula provides unsurpassed contaminant reduction for a broad range of common tap water contaminants including: Chlorine, Chloramine, Lead, Cysts (including Giardia and Cryptosporidium), Chlorine By-Products (such as Trihalomethanes), Synthetic Contaminants (such as Pesticides and Herbicides), Industrial Contaminants (such as Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)) and Petroleum Contaminants (such as Benzene and MTBE), while allowing beneficial minerals (such as Calcium, Magnesium and Potassium) to remain in the water.

WaterChef water filters are high quality and you can be assured they will reduce contaminates they claim to as they are NSF certified. Learn more about WaterChef water filters.

There has been some confusion about the different filters used in the Seychelle water filter pitcher. Seychelle has 3 different replacement filters for the pitcher.

 The Different Seychelle Pitcher Filters:

(1)    The first is the regular replacement filter, this filter will remove/reduce up to 99.99% of contaminants and pollutants found in drinking water such as Chlorine, sediment and dirt; Volatile Organic Compounds (such as insecticides, herbicides and pesticides; THMs and DDT); and Dissolved Solids (Heavy metals such as copper, lead, mercury, chromium, aluminum and Radon 222), fluoride.  As this filter does not remove bacteria it should be used with chlorinated water.

(2)    The second is the standard replacement filter this filter will remove everything the regular filter will plus bacteria. This filter can be used with any water source such as tap, river, streams and pond as it does remove bacteria.

(3)    The third filter is the radiological filter this filter will remove everything the regular filter does plus radiological contaminants such as Gross Beta, Radon 222, Radium 226, Plutonium, Uranium, Strontium, Cesium 137 and Radioactive Iodine 131.

So when you are purchasing the Seychelle water filter pitcher or replacement filters make sure that it says standard, regular or radiological so you get the one you are looking for.

As there are some sellers selling the regular pitcher filter and sating that they remove bacteria and viruses you will need the standard pitcher filter to remove bacteria. None of the pitcher filters will remove viruses.

I believe that these distributors are just confused about what they remove and just do not do enough research before listing them.  We just do not want you to purchase the regular filter and then use it from a water source such as a river, pond, stream or take it to countries where the water is questionable and get sick.

When shopping for a countertop water filter it can get very confusing with all the different models and different filtering medias in them. The first thing you will want to make sure is that a countertop water filter will hook up to your faucet. You will have to take your aerator of your faucet and be able to hook the diverter valve that is on the filter to your faucet. If you have the new faucets that are on the market that have a pull out sprayer on the faucet its self you will not be able to hook a countertop water filter on your faucet you would need an undersink or a gravity water filter.

Countertop filters come with different filtering medias in them so you will want to choose one for your needs. You will want to ask you self what you want to filter from your drinking water or what is in my water?  Most countertop water filters on the market use medias such as, granular activated carbon (GAC), Carbon Block, KDF 55 & 85, Activated Alumina and ceramic filters.  Some of them have all these in one filter system and others just use one of the medias.

(GAC) granular activated carbon is good for reducing chlorine, chloramines, VOC’s, pesticides, herbicides most chemical compounds. Carbon Block which usually comes with a 1 micron or 5 micron filter, the 1 micron will filter the same contaminants as the GAC and also lead, cryptosporidium, and Giardia and heavy metal reduction. The 5 micron carbon block filter will reduce the same as the GAC except it is a little better at filtering as the water is forced through it as it is more compacted than the GAC is.

KDF 55 media will reduce heavy metals like copper, zinc, mercury, aluminum and other dissolved metals in your water. It also removes chlorine. KDF is used in shower filters also as it can be used in a wide temperature range where with most other filtering medias you do not want to run hot water through them as it will make them ineffective.

If you are also looking to reduce fluoride from your water you will need a countertop water filter with a fluoride reducing media in it (Activated Alumina) as just any water filter will not reduce fluoride from your drinking water as it is difficult to remove fluoride from water. It will also reduce lead and arsenic.

Then there is ceramic countertop filters and they will remove bacteria from your drinking water some of them have other filtering medias in them to make them multiple stages.

So if you are only worried about chlorine in your water a GAC or carbon block will work fine. If you want a little more protection then you would want a filter with multiple stages with KDF, Carbon, and fluoride filtering media if you would like to reduce fluoride.

We are happy to announce we now carry the Sawyer water filters and purifiers.  The Sawyer water filter will remove bacteria such as E. coli, Giardia, and Cryptosporidium. If you are worried about Viruses we offer the Sawyer point zero two water purifier and the 4L complete water purifier these will remove bacteria and viruses.

All Sawyer filters have been tested by independent and qualified research laboratories according to U.S. EPA standards for water filters, and meet or exceed EPA standards. Sawyer's revolutionary technology has also been tested and verified by the United Nations, and is currently being used in more than 70 countries around the world.

The sawyer water filter use a hollow fiber membrane that has a 0.1 & 0.02 micron filtration depending if you choose the water filter or the purifier.  The membrane can be flushed when the water flow slows down. These filters are designed to last as they have a 1 million gallon guarantee.

So if you travel to countries where the water is questionable these filters will remove any bacteria or viruses so you can be assured you will not be getting sink from bacteria or viruses.  The Sawyer portable water filters are also great for camping, hiking or just to put in your emergency pack.

Fluoride is something people encounter every day. It is mainly found in toothpaste, which is used two or three times a day, and is also in processed cereals, juice drinks, tea and alcohol. In non-food items, Teflon pans, anesthetics and cigarettes all also contribute to the amount of fluoride consumed in daily life. One of the problems with this element is that it can actually cause damage to the teeth and vital organs when consumed in large amounts, which is why many people are opposed to the fluoridation of water. This is something that is done all across America, and is the reason that many people choose to filter fluoride out of their water using a household, sink or faucet filter.

The arguments about fluoridation driving people to filter fluoride from their water system

The concern about fluoride is that it is essentially a medicine being put into the main drinking water that feeds into homes. With any other medicine, a person would need to explicitly give their consent before being given a dose, but fluoride seems to have bypassed this law as the only way to opt out is to refrain from drinking tap water, or filter fluoride with a specific filter unit. Many emerging studies are showing that there is no benefit to consuming fluoride, as it only works topically, and they are also beginning to see that the reported benefits of fluoridation are not as proven as people were led to believe in the past. In fact, some graphs show that the prevalence of cavities was on the decline at just as rapid a rate in countries without fluoridation as those who added the chemical to their water supplies. When this is compared with the reported harmful effects of the chemical, it becomes clear why people are opposing this practice and asking for a new study to be carried out on the actual results of a water fluoridation system.

Taking health seriously is a good idea, as this is something we only get one chance to do. People drink water every day, and most will do this from their household water supply. What they do not realize, however, is that this could be harming their health, as well as that of their children. Instead of risking it, it is a better idea to fit a Multipure water filter to get rid of the chemicals that pose this risk.

What happens to water without a Multipure water filter

There are hundreds of elements in water that, in large doses, could be potentially harmful to health. These include lead, chlorine, arsenic. Without a Multipure water filter fitted to the system, these elements could be in the water used for drinking, cooking with and bathing in. While some people suffer no ill effects from this, those who drink more or have a weaker immune system could be putting themselves at serious risk.
